What is the fascination with big boobs? Anatomically, these are glands which we humans use to feed our young. Technically it’s just another one of nature’s many designs to help us propagate and survive. As one may already know, breasts develop in the puberty stage with a girl’s hormones going haywire, no one can say how big they’re going to get. Studies say that the size of the breast depends on the support it gets from the chest. Breast growth also increases rapidly during pregnancy and typically, the size of the breast fluctuates throughout the menstrual cycle. During old age, the breasts also sag because the ligaments supporting them usually elongates.
Anyway, humans are the only animals in the kingdom animalia which has breasts that are permanently swollen, even when not lactating. Because of this, several studies have been made to find out the other functions of the breasts.
According to scientists, animals mate when their partners are ovulating. Most animals know this because of the swollen breast of the female. For humans, this is also the same. Males find women with big boobs more attractive because it is associated with ovulation. Now for other primates, they usually have rear-entry copulation, thereby the basis for attractiveness is usually the buttocks. I know, rear-entry can also be done by humans, but of course, this wouldn’t get the woman pregnant. Since sex is a basic instinct created by nature to propagate our species, we need to reproduce. It is said that the breast is the frontal counterpart of the buttocks, and due to our upright posture, humans are more likely to copulate face to face, or the position we know as missionary. This meant that because sex needed a face on encounter, the partners needed to develop a relationship which goes beyond the sexual one. Now of course these are the rantings of a woman whose breast size has always been smaller than the average.
In 1986, the dream of many boob-men in the world came true with the publication of Juggs, a soft-core pornography magazine. The magazine’s name was actually the slang term for breasts. The magazine is still being printed today but there are other alternatives that replaced it in our modern world.
With media such as magazines and now the internet growing and everybody having access to images it has also grown the problem of body consciousness, Big boobs, small boobs, penis sizes, 6 packs and hairlines, due to the nature element we are all seeing on a daily basis what the “ideal” human looks like, going back to the primal thoughts, we subconsciously feel insecure and less sexually attractive compared to those we see around us, that is no longer the people in our village but we have to mentally compete with people from around the world! but that should not be the case, it should be a case of learning to love your body and turning that shrinking violet into a confident cave woman!
Various cultures around the world have beauty norms that differ from those of Western civilizations such as the United States. For example, in the United States, the ideal female body is one with a lean athletic build, large breasts, and a curvy bottom, whereas in China, more petite and slender female bodies with smaller breasts are praised. We construct ideologies about beauty, femininity, and fertility through literature, films, narratives, and some argue, biology. These standards of beauty promote self-assessment and criticism. They are damaging to one’s body image because societal standards of beauty make it seem as though there is only one way to be beautiful. Consequently, women from all around the world may be self-conscious about their breast size, symmetry, nipple orientation and size, and breast texture. Cultural aesthetics are a matter of taste. While it may be tempting to conform, remember that every body type is deserving of love and praise.
Instead of trying to change your body to satisfy your partner, look for a partner who will love you for who you are. Your breast size and appearance are something superficial and the right person will not make your breasts a deal breaker. Instead they should love and appreciate them as they are. Try not to feel pressured to alter the appearance of your breasts with bras. Own the breasts you were blessed with! It feels good to be confident, and it is extremely sexy to both men and women. All breasts are good breasts, and learning to love your own is a step towards a more positive perception of yourself. This will give you the confidence that will allow you to move forward in life and relationships a more self-assured person.
Make a conscious effort to love the breasts you were born with, and realize everyone—yes, even the models you see in magazines— are insecure about something in their life. You only have one body, and growing to love and accept it is such a rewarding experience. Learning to love your breasts can be difficult, but it is possible. Try and find the things you appreciate about them and use those positives as affirmations. Although it is a challenge, try to disregard the oppressive standards of beauty that the media tries to impose and remember that there is a wide variation of sizes, colours, and shapes that breasts come in. Combat the culture of comparison that we all tend to give into. Focus on loving you for you versus constantly wanting to look like someone else. When it comes down to it, breasts are just breasts. They are a minute part of what makes you YOU.
